long time since i've last blogged.. been quite busy. whole hols was packed.. only free day was like sat.. but had to do hw then...
fun-est thing tat happened in the hols was SPONTANEOUS! went to pasir ris park for the outing. played wacko, handi-plus, and captain's ball b4 snacking. then dog-and-bone. we play dog-and-bone super fun. emmanuel (my grp) kept "sneaking" and "stealing" the bone. super funny. in the end we nvr keep score and just play for fun, partially cos we really like the game, and partially cos we dun wanna play the next game.. jer came up with tis super dirty game (inspired frm eX[pl]ode camp): use the spaghetti and pick up the pasta bits.. ONLY USING UR MOUTH! xP and to make things worse, the pasta was covered with pumpkin-flavoured baby food. >< (the baby food stank!) didnt wanna play.. but oh well, for the sake of love fun joy n laughter. my grp's strategy was "take ur time, let the other grp win and get dirty." (contributed by me) cos the worse thing tat can happen is forfeit, and forfeit as a grp isnt so bad.. jer didnt play.. >=/ lol. but after the game (when he talking on the phone) we plot how to "get revenge" for him not playing the game while making the rest of us get dirty. haha. so we carried out the plan. chris (frm rugby) tackled him, the guys held him down, n the gals smeared the leftover baby food on his face. haha. super fun! xD then jer hugged chris and wiped the baby food on his shirt. then the guys decided to gang up on chris with the remaining baby food. took them super long to catch chris. he brushed off 2 tackles while running.. but in the end he also got baby food smeared on him.. then he go tackle yanxiang, the main guy behind his attack. lol. super funny. i just sat there and ate chips. xD like watching free movie. haha. later chris shared a powerful testimony and we had a "altar call" sorta.. had dinner together at burger king. =)
1st two weeks of term2 were ok. still struggling to convince myself to do hw etc.. like i kept saying to pat "i very guai in every area but hw.." sian.. haiz.. feeling the heat of jc life liao.. had the stupid pe YOG project thing (which is a total waste of time) n we nvr exercise, just do project.. =( i know i'm weird.. i actually like pe.... lol. then there's the release of pw task.. >< so super whooper hard!!! "emergency" n "conservation"... arrgghhh. got an AE for PI.. >< sianz.. the past 2 yrs task is soooooo much easier lar!! then got math test ytd.. so screwed... >< Qn1 i think i know how to do.. Qn2a i quite sure i know how to do.. skip Qn2b, dunno how to do.. did Qn3i, but think i do wrong.. rest of Qn3 nvr do.. shoot. i like lose half my marks in blanks liao lor.. sianz..
haiz.. then mon got chem and math test.. >< sooooo screwed. dang it. then following mon got bio.. 1st 2 chapters... >< last yr the test NO ONE PASS and they were only tested on 1 chapter.. we tested on TWO!!! die liao lor. so dead.. *i wonder wat happened to all my As...=(*
today got duty for international friendship day rehearsal.. pe end at 4, duty at 5.. so i was super early.. wasted time in the control rm.. xP chris say dun start until overseer come.. then my sis (the overseer) didnt know.. n she happily do her hw and come late.. lol. so hse exco ppl come up and ask us to set up.. then cos only got 3 of the 5 ppl on duty there, and the j2s dun wanna help us.. so no choice lor, so the 3 of us who were there early/on time have to go down do sai kang work.. i dun mind doing it lar.. but i prefer the control board, n i havent touched the board yet cos the past few times i do set up.. =( haix.. i'm seriously irritated with ava. even after taking into account tat this is by the sch, so naturally the standard's lower.. but SERIOUSLY!?!? esp after being trained in high discipline (in some sense) in the tech team, its really hard.. *sigh* i'll be the 1st person to say ava is a slack cca, cos it is a slack cca. u dun hav to be on duty for events if u dun want to. there's no training, n only the few short meetings to clear admin stuff.. so the workload is really little, esp compared to the ccas with A divs and syf! but Im aware and "trained" to be alert on the job. which means even though its a slack cca, when u're on duty, u are NOT to be found slacking. but for the other members.. esp j1s.. the commitment esp on duty is just different frm wat i'm used to.
another thing i find hard to cope with is punctuality and communication. in tech, we're usually on time if not slightly early for some. if u're late,esp for a few times, u'll be 'scolded' or talked-to.. cos we believe in honouring God and honouring others and their time. n we only have a limited time to do everything.. n besides, for those learning in the diff departments (like me) most of the impt stuff is done at the beginning.. so if u're late, u'll miss it. n by starting early/on time, we'll definitely have sufficient time to do our job and handle any technical errors etc. in ava... like not just today.. take morning assembly for example. i was the 2nd person there, even though i had lessons in the morning! those without were suppose to come earlier. and those who had lessons just strolled down when their lessons ended with no sense of urgency. haiz.. see the diff? and the super irritating thing is tat those who are on time usually end up doing the sai kang work while those who r late run the board! bah bu cheung. like tat i also come late lar! then can run the board! sian. in tech, we always have some1 in charge. if not an adult leader, then a team leader, or just the more experienced one in tat department. fan zhen there's some1 in charge. so i'm used to working with ppl with direct "orders from above" and having an organised team. in ava? super disorganised. control board totally silent. no instructions/directions. those setting up on stage dunno wat else to do... in tech we'll set up finish, then follow the directions of the soundboard person to test each mike etc. the person at the soundboard wld control main vol, and balance the volumes for all the mikes. haiz.. today, the control rm give no directions, so we have to test mike wat. so we tell them wat mike we testing, got sound, then done. my sis say the person on the soundboard dun even know how to use it! then by the time he locate the mike, we test finish liao, so he cannot balance the mike vol.. for goodness sake! then TELL US WHAT U NEED US TO DO!! its not like we can read ur mind!u need us to test the mike JUST SAY! u've got a mike up there too so USE IT for goodness sake! *shakes head in exasperation!* i seriously dunno wat to say man.. haix. wah.. then tell them need 2 mike stands, 2 ppl came down.. EMPTY-HANDED! like seriously man. i can imagine how broZC would have done everything lar. he would like assign tasks to individuals, then once everything setup liao, he'll like cut every1 and bring up specific mikes to test, eq and balance, giving the person on tat mike instructions to test it... then repeat tat for all the mikes etc until everything is done, working, eq-ed, balanced, wat-not. no time wasted. directions clear. no confusion. totally organised. EFFICIENT.
n i feel the j2s shld have done more. I'm not shooting u or wat, but i seriously feel tat since u already have so many ppl who (by right) dun need to be here for duty but are here anyway, u shld have like at least one on top and one below. cos even after the training in the camp, most if not all of us are still unsure of wat to do. u standing by the side watching us wont help. u shld be like helping us along the way, teaching us wat's the proper way. the best time for us to learn and for u to teach is ON THE JOB. not just in training. like tech, we have trainings at least once or twice a yr. but the REAL training comes when we're serving, when we're ON THE JOB, when we're running the board, when we make mistakes, when we LEARN FROM THE EXPERIENCED'S EXAMPLES, when THEY TEACH US WHILE WE SERVE. in this way, we get both the knowledge and experience at the same time. not just experience and no knowledge like today's, or knowledge and no experience like during the training camp. i'm not saying the training was useless. NO! far from it! but the training just introduces us to our job as ava. it does not teach us wat to do in situations we encounter while on duty. tats something YOU have to teach. sure we can learn by making mistakes and learning frm them. but since u're there, wont it be faster and more efficient if u instruct us instead of just watching us and not helping? this is like our first time doing duty for an event. its not as simple as morning assembly. we need help. we're totally unsure of wat to do.
haiz..... look at how tech runs stuff.. look at how ava runs stuff... the diff is sooo obvious and soooooooooo different! is it just me? are my expectations too high? ava can nvr reach the standard of tech, but at least it shld have a higher standard. shouldnt it? or am i expecting too much of ava? haix. i really feel ava should BUCK UP!
