so true. read this off a blog from a link i got from whysharksmatter. and its so true. compared to other causes of death, sharks dun seem to be killing much ppl per year, yet they are discriminated against and killed (mostly for their fins. i think they're using "sharks are killers" as excuses) stuff like cancer, heart attacks, bees, mosquitos, lightning, etc etc kills A LOT more ppl than sharks do. admittedly, we cant drive mosquitos, bees, and the various viruses to extinction, and incidents like being struck by lightning cant be controlled, but lets consider other animals. wat about snakes? they kill a lot more ppl than sharks, n they're worshipped in certain cultures and religion (no offense to any). and dogs? they too kill many ppl, yet they're called "man's best friend".... hmm.. the lion's example speaks for itself [look at above quote]
oh. n sharks are being wiped out by (estimated) 40mil per year. [estimates varies from 10mil-100mil] n tats not considering the amt killed illegally/not recorded/not publicised by the authorities. n tats just for their fins. [makes one wonder, which is the real killer, sharks? or humans?]
dolphin friendly tuna is only friendly to dolphins. the most cost-efficient n practical way to catch tuna results in a very large amount of bycatch. n this includes hundreds of sharks, turtles, various fishes (tat are not meant to be caught), rays, n baby fish amongst many others. so the only thing dolphin friendly methods are "friendly" to are dolphins. n they're not even endangered. (n many of the bycatch are)ya, dolphins are cute. i totally agree. but looking at the statistics is just saddening.

just discovered that male platypuses actually have venom! they secrete it from glands located at their hind feet.

i checked up on calico cats (mentioned in bio lecture) n its true! calico cats (or cats with tortoiseshell colouring) are mostly females! this is bcos the primary gene for coat colour is located on the X chromosome n has 2 co-dominant alleles (orange and black) [females have 2 X chromosomes (XX)] usually one of the allele is inactivated, but in the case of calico cats, the 2 cell types become intermingled n voila! calico cats. male cats cant have tat colouring cos they only have 1 X chromosome(XY). but when male cats have tis colouring, they're (almost) always sterile, cos they have a condition known in humans as Klinefelter syndrome, meaning they have 2 Xchromosomes (ie XXY)the inbalance in sex chromosomes causes them to be infertile.

today was super stressed. 1st time i eq everything all by myself!!! xP last 2 times i served PDa was there to do eq. then last time got BroZC or shamus helping out. today, nada. delayed a bit but in the end no choice, had to do eq. was super worried tat my eq not gd lar! haix. then my two "padawans" could tell i super stress n wanna help, but they dunno nothing 'bout eq. lol.
was really relying on God the whole eq session. was like "LORD, i cant do this by my own. help me get the eq right."
after i finish liao, broZC finally appeared. he thought was bro robin's team so he nvr come down, he was in church the whole time. lols. he was amazed, happy, *something along tat line* when he realised i did the whole eq all by myself (esp since i try not to do eq if i can xP) he said i did a good job (thank God), n only did minor touch ups. =) *whew* this one really thank God. no way could i do it alone!
broZC very funny. he ask me how i found the eq. then suddenly commented on my hair (for those who dunno, i cut it reccently). "so how did u find the eq? btw, i noticed u cut ur hair. its very nice. i wanted to tell u b4 i 4get. ya. so how was the eq?" lols.
cell was really interesting today. but sad thing was it was only SPs + emmanuel there. sad-ed. after a fun gel n testimony, sis serene led grow. last week was on pre-believers, this week on believers, how we can encourage each other. then she decided to do an activity with us instead of following the discussion notes. we went one round, each one taking turns to be in the hot seat, n everyone will comment on a quality or trait or just anything about tat person tat we really want to thank them for. at 1st it was very awkward. but after a while it wasnt so bad. its amazing wat ppl notice even when u think they're not. how small little actions like replying an sms with a "see u!" encourages another. how others really notice even the small things u do "when no one's looking". its really very encouraging. at the end of the session, sis serene wanted to round things off. then jer was like "but there's still one more person!" (her) then she was like nvm. can see chris n jer planning to do it anyway once she done talking. then they were like "jer go 1st" to me. haha. lols. ya. so we went one round of encouraging sis serene for all the time n effort n concern n everything she put into this cell. we really had a lot to share today. it was awesome.
today service praise n worship was run by the 2 young ones. long past time they started trying. always tried to get them to try mixing, esp during the jamming session. they dun want/dunno. cant really blame them. i started out like tat too. but i started trying like in my 2nd or 3rd week (probably cos i had a very gd teacher, tat helps) but broZC say this week is time for them to try. besides, i already did my share (eq). so ya. they finally mixed the sound.
they quite like me when i started. unsure. scared tat they'll screw up service. scared they'll do something wrong. n all tat. i suppose everyone (or most) starts off like tat. both didnt dare push the instruments up, then push one up, then leave it there for the whole song instead of keep mixing ard n trying new sounds. but cant blame them ba. they did a good job for 1st timers.
lighting console hanged in the middle of worship. lols. had to on the main house lights in case the system crashed.
P Andy preached today. impactful. about the word of God. his sermon was really relevant and easy to relate to. esp the last illustration of his. the bible vs handphone. it really opens a new perspective.
service ended late today, some of the tech ppl zhao cos they had to go, n we havent debrief yet. broZC was like "they're not supposed to go til after debrief. they shld know tat when they're serving they'll have to stay back a while after service one" but oh wells. they zhao liao. so broZC do debrief for us (whoever was left). then glo and sam n al came in to the lt (apparently my sis go tell them about my hair n they wanted to see) then glo esp was like super amazed (over wat i dunno) n keep pointing n laughing n being a super big distraction while i was having the debrief. then cos josie was blocking her frm having a proper view, she go ask him move to his right, then i also go move to my left. purposely dun let her see. haha. then broZC also got distracted bcos of tat. lols. he was like "ya i know her hairstyle very nice. we're having a debrief now" lols.
then after everything over liao, when i go outside, they were like "eh WOW! ur hairstyle very nice leh!" then jan also came over. then they kept wanting to touch my hair or something. >< lol. weird frens i have. haha. xD
talking about my hair. joled keep saying its not nice n want me to cut shorter cos he not used to it. he say this one more feminine, n keep saying i very tomboyish. lols. ok lar, sec sch i more violent i admit, but not very tomboyish wat. then elias was like "eh. who u trying to seduce with ur new hairstyle eh?" lols. the class jokers..
finally finished making the testtubes for jan. owe her super long liao. feel bad.
even though everything more/less turned out right today, but feel very bad. feel like i'm not good at teaching the new ones. like if they were under some of the more experienced ones they'll learn a lot more a lot faster. but in my team i most senior in sound liao, so have to teach them.. but seriously? i dun think i know enough to be teaching lors.

lots of things to write about.. keep wanting to blog.. but never. too lazy i guess.
shall blog about today. met gladys after soooo long. we were supposed to study.. we studied some then got distracted, then nvr study liao.. xP
started the 4th season of bones. the 1st episode very funny.. haha. the americans were in england, where everything is total opposite. booth was hilarious! haha.
went cycling with lao si and the son. well, actually just the son. we all cycled, then the 2 mothers walked. we cycled to lower pierce, the mothers just walked in the park. lao si also cooked a huge batch of jiao zi for us. =) her jiao zi is the best lar! cooked more than 250 i think. and we ate like 100++ in one sitting! haha. =)
still have to make testtube after this. owe jan for super long liao. and still have to serve tmr.. xP dunno how i'll survive tmr with so little slp. oh, n there's tuition n i havent done my work yet. xP

econs was.... haix. didnt really study. but then. its all common sense. but common sense aint so common nowadays.
anyhow write for like the whole paper. just crap my way thru. lol. if i pass, i'm happy.
went down to church for sp empowerment. met sherm, alex, and sis for dinner at the secret secret place. not tat its a secret anymore. ever since the secret place closed, more n more ppl have been going to the secret secret place. oh well, if there's good food, we have to share with the family right?
dinner was like so few of us... but had quite a good time of fellowship. but really miss IHAL. keep recalling stuff about the concert, the quotes, the songs, the funny bits.... "at this time last week we'll be putting on our makeup..." and stuff like tat... =( haix. really miss being part of IHAL.
when walking back to church superb funny. cos we lazy walk one whole round. but back gate almost always lock. so they call bro jer, see if he know whether its open. he say he think so. then call bro kaf, actually want to ask him to come down n help us open the gate if its not open. but then sherm say he sounded very tired, so decided not to bother him. then call sis gwen, also wanted to ask her to help us. in the end never. lol. so we went to the back gate. alex tried. didnt open. rach was like "alex! u must have more faith! u must have faith then it'll open!" lol. then tried the other back gate, but tat one even more gurantee not open de. then we wanted to give up and just walk one round when we spotted uncle jeff. then we were like "uncle jeff! uncle jeff!" n wave frantically. lol. he probably think why got 4 crazy youths at the gate. haha. but this gate cannot open de, so must walk back to the other one. then we were like talking across the fence the whole way. haha.
kept singing the songs. haix. really miss IHAL alot alot ALOT!
super little z2 ppl come for sp empowerment today. my cell only me n chris. all the z2 cells only 1 or 2 ppl max per cell. quite sad. then the leaders also not there except for sis serene. but bro zc joined us for the dicussion. until about the last part,then he went off. then bro kaf also shared with us some.
today sp empowerment was about fear vs faith. one part of the video was funny. cos when we were having dinner, alex commented tat every time nvr see audience one. so it feels like P. Dom is just preaching his sermon in front of the camera n there's no one else in the chapel with him. haha. then today, one part of the video showed the audience! hahaha. lol. super funny lar.
fear vs faith.... fear kills faith, cripples us, causes us to lose confidence and our potential... fear. but we CAN counter it. FOCUS on God, FEED on His word, and FORGE ahead. but haix. easier said than done.
didnt share much today. in fact, i was the only one who didnt share. haha, and its not cos bro zc was there. (whenever bro zc around, i'll usually bcome very quiet. dunno why. he's one of the some ppl who causes tat.) usually i'll share some during discussion. but today nvr.
after everything over. alex went back to her IHAL mode. haha. she n "jerry" (darren) re-enacted certain scenes in IHAL and all. haha. lol. superb funny lar! songs kept playing in my head.

作文was so-so. wrote crap. still flipping the 字典 for the words i dunno how to write when time's up. so probably got some words i write wrong.
paper2 was quite >< wasnt surprised 牛车水 came out. gut feeling i guess. whole paper more/less just anyhow guess. half the time dun even understand wat the passage was about.. ><
heck. its over.
econs tmr. suppose to study today. ended up playing facebook and doing lots of quizzes.. xP shall study tmr.. tmr... tmr..... (sometimes tmr nvr comes... xP)

math left 2 questions blank. one dunno how to do (reccurence) the last ques no time to attempt.. X/ but the rest more/less know how to do, though some is anyhow do one.. but all in all, if everything i wrote is correct, i can still (barely) get an A.
bio was a >.< didnt study anything except a few pages of cell bio and biomolecules. answered all the ques (ie the ques i attempted) with watever i cld rmb frm the lecture/tutorial. handed in a pure blank piece of paper for my 15m essay, it was on DNA and genomics, of which i had nil impression, so cannot ans. relying (purely) on MCQ to pull me thru. if everything i wrote is correct, i might just be able to pass.
chem was another >.< managed to cram everything but chem bonding during the 4hr break. guess wat came out? chem bonding! >< then there was some planning thingy which i have absolute no idea wat to do, so threw away another 10m. secB paper2 was >< in fact the whole paper2 was >< n MCQ wasnt tat much better either. but the dang thing is tat paper2 last ques i know how to do. no time. >< if everything i wrote is correct, i'll just pass.
chinese tmr. 3hrs++++!?!??!???!!!???!???!? so dead. i'll probably fall asleep halfway.
econs the next day. shall study tmr. i think. dang. the one subject i dun pay attention to in lecture & tutorial. lol. screwed.
shucks. suffering frm post-production withdrawal. cant get the concert outta my mind. every day, every hour, every minute, a song will play, a line will pop up, an inside joke remembered.... its draining too, in a way. miss the friendships, the closeness, the jokes shared, the highness, the acting, the fun times, the people, the work, the EVERYTHING. the whole experience was totally awesome. but now i'm crashing down. hard.
